ABOUT THE EMMANUEL HOUSE
Serving both Smith and Macon County, The Emmanuel House is a faith-based, 501(c)(3)non-profit transitional living program that provides temporary housing, spiritual mentorship, skills training, education, and more to women coming out of addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and traumatic circumstances. As one of the few programs in Tennessee to accept mothers and their children, we pride ourselves on providing the very best care to our clients as they begin the journey of transformation and healing.
Our program follows a phase structure, in which residents are presented with a set of necessary responsibilities and expectations, such as paying rent and maintaining a clean living environment alongside others in the shared home, securing stable employment, attending support, faith, and recovery meetings, and participating in weekly skill-share seminars led by local community leaders in business, education, finance, and the arts. Most are in the program for 18 months, with each resident’s growth plan tailored to their specific situation and needs. As residents demonstrate their growth in the areas of leadership, financial literacy, holistic wellness, and parenting (if applicable), various privileges are granted to encourage continuance and graduation of the program.
We rely entirely upon the generosity of churches, businesses, and individuals to do this work and are grateful to those who have and continue to help us in our mission of healing to women and children in our community.
